Browsing, searching and comparing
You do not need an account. Search, filters and yarn calculations work in your browser. Saved comparison and calculator details appear after the # in their URLs; that fragment is not sent in a normal HTTP request. Skeinspan does not store your search history or calculation entries in a database or browser storage.
Optional Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 only if you select “Accept analytics,” or previously accepted in this browser. Before acceptance, and when you decline, no Google Analytics script or measurement requests load, including consent pings. All website tools work with either choice. A browser’s Global Privacy Control signal keeps optional analytics off, including after a previous acceptance.
These reports help Oasis Digital understand which Skeinspan pages and tools are useful. After acceptance, Google receives technical request information such as your IP address and browser/device details, first-party analytics identifiers, page views and engagement information. Our measurement uses canonical page addresses without query strings or fragments, and only the referring website’s origin. Deliberate tool interactions can include public yarn identifiers selected for comparison, calculator type, and the public hostname/path of a checked retailer product link.
We do not send search text, calculator numbers or results, saved URL parameters/fragments, email addresses or correction messages to analytics. Automatic enhanced measurement, Google signals, advertising consent and advertising personalization are disabled. Analytics identifiers are not a promise of anonymity. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and Google’s privacy policy.
Your choice, cookies and withdrawal
The first visit offers equally available Accept analytics and Decline buttons. “Analytics settings” in every page’s footer lets you revisit that choice. We remember acceptance or refusal in this browser’s local storage under skeinspan.analytics-consent.v1; this preference contains no search or project details. It remains until you change it or clear the site’s browser data. If your browser blocks this storage, the choice applies to the current page and may be requested again.
After acceptance, Google Analytics can set first-party _ga and _ga_… cookies to distinguish visits and sessions. We configure these cookies for this hostname and a 90-day lifetime without extending that lifetime on each page load. Hosting security features may process information independently.
To withdraw, open Analytics settings and choose Decline. This blocks further site analytics, clears accessible Skeinspan analytics cookies, and reloads the current page to stop the previously loaded Google tag. Withdrawal does not erase information already received by Google. Clearing site data also removes the stored preference and prompts a fresh choice.
Hosting and technical information
Cloudflare delivers the site. Website requests disclose technical information such as an IP address, browser information, requested URL and request time to the hosting provider. Cloudflare may process request logs and security information to operate and protect its service. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for its practices. Fonts and graphics are served with the site.
Advertising and external links
Skeinspan loads no advertising scripts and uses no affiliate commission tracking. Manufacturer and retailer links lead to independent websites with their own privacy practices. When you follow a link, your browser communicates with that website. Check its policy before providing personal information or placing an order.
Email corrections
If you contact us, your email address and message are processed by our email service so that we can review and respond. Do not include sensitive information. Sending a correction does not subscribe you to marketing. We keep correspondence while needed to resolve the matter and maintain an appropriate correction record. You may request deletion of your correspondence.
